Blaisdell Concert Hall
Honolulu, HI
BAMP Project, Hawaiis premier concert production company, is honored to present legendary performer Smokey Robinson live in concert May 22 at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. Smokey Robinson is one of the most beloved and influential figures in the history of popular music. Celebrating more than 50 years in the music business and of Motown Records, Robinson has logged 37 Top 40 hits in his career.
His latest album entitled Now and Then released November 2010 is available exclusively at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store locations nationwide. The 12-song CD features six live versions of his well-known classics including "Going to a Go-Go," "I Second That Emotion," and "The Tracks of My Tears," and six songs from his 2009 release Time Flies When Youre Having Fun. This album features special guest appearances by Carlos Santana, Joss Stone and India.Arie who lend their incredible musical talents while famed artist Shepard Fairey provides the cover art.
Robinson has received numerous awards in his long career in the business including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, a Grammy Award for "Best R&B Performance, Male," and The Soul Train Music Award for Career Achievement. He has been inducted to the Songwriter Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has also received the prestigious Rhythm & Soul Heritage Award from ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) during the 22nd Annual Rhythm & Soul Music Awards.
Robinson has been inducted to the Hollywood Walk of Fame both as a solo artist and with his group, The Miracles. He received a Kennedy Center honor in 2006 and is the sterling pen and satin voice behind such mega hits as "Shop Around," "Tracks of My Tears," "Youve Really Got a Hold on Me," "Tears of a Clown," "I Second That Emotion," "Going to a Go-Go," and "Cruisin," among many others.
And those are just some of the Smokey hits that Smokey sang; Marvin Gaye ("Aint That Peculiar," “I’ll Be Doggone”), The Temptations (“My Girl,” “The Way You Do the Things You Do”), The Four Tops (“Still Water (Love)”), Mary Wells (“You Beat Me to the Punch,” “My Guy”), The Marvelettes (“Don’t Mess With Bill,” “The Hunter Gets Captured by the Game”), Brenda Holloway (“When I’m Gone”) and other Motown greats propelled an abundance of sparkling Robinson compositions up the charts. To this day, radio stations, jukeboxes, iPods, movie soundtracks and the absent--minded humming of myriad music fans are alight with Smokey Robinson’s melodies.

Created to bring music fans together for a one day celebration, the largest concert series of the summer will feature an amazing lineup of some of the best bands in the world. The 2012 all star line-up includes performances from Steel Pulse, Slightly Stoopid, Alborosie, G. Love and Gyptian on Oahu and Maui. Kauai and Big Island performances from Slightly Stoopid and Alborosie. Tickets for all shows go on sale April 11, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. See below for ticket locations.
Legendary Steel Pulse is the only UK reggae group to win a Grammy. In 1985 Babylon The Bandit album won the Best Reggae Album category. Their international success earned them further Grammy Nominations for their albums, Victims, Rastafari Centennial, Rage & Fury, Living Legacy and African Holocaust. 2012 has seen the release of Rocksteady a film co-starring David Hinds and featuring the band’s live members. The Hind’s track "Rocksteady" was composed especially for the movie. January 2012 saw the group perform in Haiti for the first time. The track "Hold on 4 Haiti" was written as result of the earthquake and they have been instrumental in raising thousands of dollars for the relief effort with Partners in Health. Steel Pulse are currently working on a new album which will be released later this year and also a documentary of their long career which features live footage and interviews.
Since forming in 1995, Slightly Stoopid has toured virtually non-stop. A headliner since 2007, their annual summer amphitheater tours have been supported by Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, Ozomatli, Sly & Robbie and Stephen Marley, at venues including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Berkeley’s Greek Theater, NYC’s Central Park and more. Slightly Stoopid has also performed alongside acts including the Dave Matthews Band, Damian Marley and The Roots, while appearing at such festivals as Coachella, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits and New Orleans Jazz Fest. On March 30th, Slightly Stoopid released a two-CD/DVD package, Live at Robertos TRI Studios, which was recorded at Bob Weir’s studio and features collaborations with Weir, Ivan and Ian Neville, and Karl Denson of The Greyboy Allstars, along with host Tommy Chong. After the Festival the group will embark on the Unity Tour 2012 with 311 starting July 8th.
Italian-born Jamaican resident Alborosie is a singer, songwriter, DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist. His solo albums to date are Soul Pirate, Escape from Babylon and 2 Times Revolution. Hits include "Rastafari Anthem", "Kingston Town" and "Call Up Jah". He has given concerts all round the world, including most of Europe and Jamaica. After signing on as an in-house producer and engineer for Geejam Studios, he co-launched a record label called Forward Recordings and continued to collaborate with local and international artists. Alborosie has worked with Mario, Angie Stone, Jewel, Sisqo, No Doubt, Wyclef and Les Nubians. He has also collaborated with All-stars Dean Frazer, Beenie Man, Lutan Fya and a number of other Jamaican artists.
G. Love frontman of G. Love & Special Sauce will perform hit songs off of his solo albums. After years of acoustic hip-hop with his group, Garrett Dutton aka G. Love released his latest solo album called Fixin to Die in 2011 produced by The Avett Brothers, which features a more blues-focused sound from the Philadelphia singer-songwriter. Known for his live shows, he is often seen touring with Jack Johnson. Johnson signed G. Love to his record label Brushfire Records. He has made appearances on the records of artists such as Slightly Stoopid and Donavon Frankenreiter and recently went on tour with Dave Matthews.
Reggae star Gyptians single "Hold You" was ranked one of the hottest songs of 2010 by numerous media outlets worldwide, capping off a stunning year for the artist and landing him everywhere from Billboard Magazine to the New York Times. Gyptian was crowned Reggae Artist of the Year at the 2010 Soul Train Awards and the 2010 MOBO Awards in the UK. His breakout single has sold over 300,000 copies and both videos for "Hold You" and "Nah Let Go" premiered on the coveted video countdown show, BETs 106 & Park.

Atlantic recording artist Jason Mraz has announced plans for a "Tour Is A Four Letter Word" Hawai‘i performance, celebrating the upcoming release of his hugely anticipated new album, LOVE IS A FOUR LETTER WORD. The album – which features the hit single, “I Won’t Give Up” – arrives in stores and at all online retailers this spring.
The Oahu performance to be held on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the Waikiki Shell just a day after his tour across Asia with shows through Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and China (marking Mraz’s first-ever concerts in the world’s most populous country).
Produced by multiple GRAMMY® Award-winner Joe Chiccarelli (The White Stripes, Christina Perri, My Morning Jacket), LOVE IS A FOUR LETTER WORD features the hit single “I Won’t Give Up” and marks Mraz’s finest, most fully realized collection to date. Fueled by magnificently textured arrangements and distinctive vocal landscapes, the album – Mraz’s fourth studio release and first new collection since 2008’s epochal WE SING. WE DANCE. WE STEAL THINGS. – fully confirms the San Diego-based singer/songwriter as one of modern pop’s most vibrant and inventive artists.
